CBD effects on Concentration and Focusing

If you have ever faced challenges in concentrating either as a child or as an adult, while studying or any other activity, you probably know how frustrating it can be. Lack of concentration can create cumulative detrimental effects to a person including time wasting and poor performance. One may be a victim of procrastination and time mismanagement. Some of its symptoms include difficulty in concentrating in an environment that requires one to sit and maintain silence. Some people may find such environments difficult to focus. It is reported that if left untreated, concentration and focus deficit can affect every area of life including education, career, family, relationships, finances, and even the quality of life.

Those who have in the past suffered from attention and focus deficit understand that the symptoms are not exaggerated. An affected person may arrive and sit at a workstation, with a coffee mug in hand, only to realize it’s already lunchtime with little work done that the boss needs in the afternoon. People affected by this condition may experience chronic boredom that doesn’t allow them to do any task, sudden anger bursts, low self-esteem that they can do something, and poor organizational skills. These people have a six times increased risk of developing other mental disorders not necessarily related to attention and focus.

Foundations of Affected Focus and Concentration

It’s been recently established that many people individuals who have focusing difficulty are affected by a condition known as clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CECD) which is a condition where the body experiences low levels of its naturally occurring cannabinoids (endocannabinoids). Someone who has endocannabinoid deficiency and supplements the body with ingested CBD is likely to reduce the speed of neurotransmitters and offer a little more time for the brain to concentrate and focus. The advantage of CBD over cannabis is that it helps the patient relax and improve focus and concentration without him or her feeling inebriated due to its non-psychoactive properties. Taking high doses of CBD will not necessarily cause any significant side effects on the body. On the contrary, taking too much cannabis can harm the body and interfere with the overall lifestyle of the user.

Persons with a problem with concentration and focus often find it difficult to perform well in their school work as compared to a control population. They are also likely to have strenuous relationships with friends and colleagues at school, work, or even teachers. This is because they often get distracted easily and end up missing deadlines of important assignments now and then. As a result, they lead a poor quality of life and become a significant financial burden to families, friends, and the entire societal system.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is one of the major compounds found in the cannabis plant. The other major compound is THC which is the direct opposite of CBD. THC is psychoactive (gets someone high) and has a different interaction with the brain while CBD is non-psychoactive and interacts with the brain to produce different effects.

CBD oils are legal in all U.S. states, but its legality may differ from country to country. The reason behind the legality of CBD oil is because it contains no THC which is associated with the stoning effect found in a cannabis plant. A doctor can also offer prescription on CBD oil according to the type of condition being treated.

CBD, Learning, Attention, and Memory

CBD positively affects learning and motivates learning. Previous research conducted to determine whether CBD affects memory concluded that THC and CBD have two opposing effects. The test was done to test the effect of the two cannabis compounds on acute memory. CBD opposed the psychoactive effects of THC which gets someone high. Those placed on high THC showed signs of memory impairment while those on high CBD showed reversal effects of THC. In another related study on animals, CBD was introduced to an Alzheimer mouse model with memory deficits. CBD used its therapeutic power to reverse the effects of Alzheimer.

CBD vs. Stimulants

Patients with attention deficit are often prescribed with stimulant medications such as Adderall. However, with the knowledge that is widely available on the internet, many are abandoning these prescription meds citing their side effects. Some of the side effects that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drugs include loss of appetite, nervousness, and even sleeping problems. Some people have reported using both stimulants and CBD products. However, several doctors prefer and have advised that the patients exclusively use CBD products. A previous study conducted by doctors concluded that the therapeutic effects of CBD products are by far more than those of conventional drugs.

How CBD Works

CBD directly interacts with the brain’s dopamine which is a chemical neurotransmitter that is responsible for memory, focus, and mental awareness. When a person is faced with decreased attention and focus, it means that the dopamine levels are low. Although smoking or ingesting marijuana can increase dopamine levels, there is a danger of taking too much of it which is what impairs memory and focus. Ingesting CBD does not allow an abnormal rise in dopamine levels in the brain. The right quality of CBD oil from the right strain will help in improving focus and overall performance either in school or work. Processes such as motivation and motor control are associated with dopamine release into the body. CBD users with higher dopamine levels in the brain experience boosted mental focus. Although THC, the other major cannabis compound has some significant mental focusing capabilities, it has other adverse effects the user may not like to have. Some of the adverse effects include feeling anxious and paranoid. It is for this reason that it is not an effective treatment option for mental focus and concentration. The right strain of cannabis with high CBD content is best for making CBD oils and other CBD products which have soporific and relaxing effects. Consequently, people who have attention and focus problems benefit from CBD’s anti-anxiety properties as well as mental focus improvement.

Previous pieces of research have shown that CBD oil helps people with attention deficiency and focus problems. The researchers have concluded that CBD supplements the body by increasing concentration levels which then allows the user participate in tasks and undertake them with a more focused feeling. Students can sleep well before and during exam periods, revise efficiently, and end up performing well in their studies.

Today’s school, college, and university students are often given tasks and targets during assessments. Interruptions of focus can significantly interfere with studies. CBD provides a remedy for concentration and focus. Students may score poorly in their education due to both low concentration in class and during private studies. Others may dismiss themselves as being retards and unfortunately, be affirmed by an ignorant educator who may not understand the problem. CBD effects on concentration and focusing can help a student sleep well, revise well, and perform well in school. Previous users of CBD report that it has helped them in school, life, and love. CBD provides a healthy and efficient solution.
